RG97: New fee and cost disclosure requirements

ASIC have indicated that the purpose behind the new disclosure requirements is to assist you with comparing different super products and therefore make more informed decisions about your investment.

Some of the main principles for introducing these changes are summarised below:

  • Improved transparency for how underlying fees and costs are presented;
  • To apply a consistent approach to how fees and costs are disclosed regardless of the funds structure, investment approach and asset allocation;
  • The new process should enable members to compare the actual costs of different superannuation funds; and
  • To improve members’ understanding of costs which are incurred for underlying investments.
